Thank you for following along on my amazing pre-abroad seminar! I am now studying in Syracuse University's London Center and taking on an internship here as well!

Since being here for just a little bit, I want to talk about how I've made changes in my lifestyle to be more sustainable:

  • My roommates and I make group meals. This allows for less food waste, as we buy groceries in smaller increments and make only what we need for that night.

  • I only take public transportation, which allows me to reduce my carbon footprint.

  • In London, you have to pay for bags when shopping, to reduce waste and money, I carry all of the things I purchase either in my hands or in my backpack.

  • Thanks to Syracuse University London, all students have a reusable coffee mug, which I use daily. Cafes in the area also give discounts if we use them, which is a nice perk.

  • When planning trips for the weekend, my friends and I try to take the train rather than planes. This reduces carbon emissions, as planes are one of the largest contributors to excess CO2 emissions.

I hope that these small changes I have been making inspire you to do the same. These changes have been so easy to make! My internship in London is at a strategic design and technology agency. There they focus on luxury fashion, beauty, and lifestyle brands. I always thought of these industries as being non environmentally friendly. However, I was in for a big surprise. Many clothing companies are now using recycled materials for clothing and some hotels are using vegan leathers. I'm excited to see how the lessons I learned on my seminar can be used in my internship! I love living in London and couldn't be happier exploring this amazing city! Thank you so much for following along on this journey!
