Roaming in Norway

To take a break from all of my food talk, I wanted to talk about something in Northern Europe my seminar took advantage of: roaming laws.

In the U.S. it's common to find "No Trespassing" signs posted on trees. Many people would be alarmed to see people camping or hiking through their backyard.

In Norway, they have a law called "The Right To Roam." The only exception? You have to avoid fertilized land. In snowy Norway, we could virtually go wherever we wanted because of this. These laws allow people to gain an appreciation of the environment. Many tour guides attribute the positive culture about being sustainable to these laws, and the integration of nature in the daily lives of all who live in these countries.

I included pictures of some of the sights I encountered on our hikes. I truly cannot stress how much this trip has made me appreciate the environment and the world around me. This seminar has shown me such an amazing part of the world.

This image was taken while snow shoeing in Norway. I feel like this pictures don't do these places enough justice.

This image was taken on the boat tour in the Fjords. It was amazing to see the snow covered mountains and then the waterfalls right beside them.
